August, 2010
Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
I hope that your summer has been filled with rest, relaxation and some memorable experiences. I have missed you over the summer months and I am anxious to welcome you back to school.
Our returning schedule is as follows:
August 31 New students only report to the Middle School Dining Room at 9:00 AM. This includes ALL sixth grade students. Please wear comfortable casual clothes. We will dismiss students at noon. No need to bring anything except yourself!
September 1 All students report to homeroom at 7:45 AM. This is Picture Day. Students may wear what they wish on this day. Dismissal will be at 12:30 PM.
September 2 This is a full school day with dismissal at 2:30 PM.
Our 2010-2011 school calendar is posted on the web. You will notice that each school day has a letter designation that indicates which day you should plan for in our 7-day rotating schedule.
In June we said good bye to our much beloved eighth grade language arts teacher, Ms. Kathryn Lang. She has relocated to California to be close to family and friends. She will be teaching language arts in another Catholic middle school. We have been blessed with her caring and dedicated service to the students at MHMS. She will be missed.
Ms. Elizabeth Montgomery has been appointed to fill the vacancy left by Kathryn Lang. She is an alumnus of Ursuline Academy and is a graduate of Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Education. She has taught in several different schools in New York, most recently at the Epiphany School. We welcome her to the MHMS community.
We are pleased to welcome Fr. David O’Donnell from Brockton as the new pastor at St. Joseph Parish. He looks forward to meeting you. He hopes to be relocated in Needham by the start of the school year.
The faculty met in June and chose a school theme for the 2010-2011 school. We hope to inspire spiritual and academic growth through the chant of, “Imagine Believe Achieve.” We think embracing these words can lead to good things happening!
Go back to summer fun. See you soon.
God Bless,
Mrs. Jane Abel
Principal
