Monsignor James J. Haddad Middle School » School Life » Spiritual & Charity

In the rich tradition of Catholic education, Christ is at the center of all that happens at Monsignor James Haddad Middle School. The faculty and staff are committed to strengthening the students’ faith development through traditional religious education, a commitment to Christian service, and a strong culture of spirituality and respect.

The religious education program at Monsignor Haddad Middle School seeks to instill in students an informed faith. Students develop a better understanding of Christ, the Church and the Sacred Scriptures, as well as Catholic moral and social teachings. Students are challenged to see that their faith is relevant in today's world and encouraged to apply the Roman Catholic teachings to their daily lives.

Faith formation further occurs through weekly Chapel, monthly liturgies, participation in the annual Live Nativity and Stations of the Cross, communal daily prayer and an infusion of gospel teachings throughout the curriculum.

Monsignor James Haddad Middle School recognizes the necessity of providing students the opportunity to help those in need. Christian service is integrated throughout the student's religious education as the "hand's on" component of their religions instruction. Each student is required to complete a certain number of hours to serve the needs of others in a tangible way before leaving Monsignor Haddad Middle School. This is the practical embodiment of Christ’s mission.

A sampling of activities students have organized and or participated in include the Walk for Hunger, the Charles River Arc Special Olympics, the sponsoring of Scooper Bowl parties for the Jimmy Fund, participation in Candlepin Bowling for Kids, collecting food for the Thanksgiving Food Drive, providing companionship to the elderly at the Stephen Palmer Senior Center, and collecting clothing for the Coats for Kids program.
