Justice and Peace Committee

St. Joseph’s Justice and Peace Committee was formed in 1987, with a focus on addressing human need and witnessing God’s love for all people. We strive to raise awareness of social justice issues in the United States and throughout the world and we conduct education on Jesus’ teachings on non-violence and love. One of the great human needs is the universal desire for peace in the world.

Our programs include:

  • Our yearly “Jesse Tree” Advent collection to assist needy children both in Boston and in the Parish
  • A Lenten program to assist the needs of Mother Teresa’s nuns in Haiti
  • Outreach towards the homeless men of Boston

The Justice and Peace Committee meets once a month to plan programs and address current issues. The basis for our work is taken from the Scriptures and from Jesus’ teachings on the social, political, and economic structures of His day, as well as from the documents of Vatican II.

We welcome new members to join in this important work. We ask for the support and prayers of all Parishioners in these programs. Meeting times are published in the Weekly Bulletin.

"Blessed are the peacemakers."

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness."
