Why choose Saint Joseph Elementary School?

Lucky to have found high quality, faith-based education...

"We chose St. Joseph Parish Schools because we wanted education for our children that was grounded in faith. We were lucky to find a community of like-minded parents who believe in high-quality, faith- based education. We're thankful for the small class sizes and character development offered to our children at St. Joe's. The committed teachers and accessible leadership team keep us informed and demonstrate a sincere interest in the academic, spiritual and social development of our children.

Didn’t hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity....

"When we walked into St Joe's, my husband and I looked at one another and knew instantly this was where we wanted our children to receive their education. Even though our commute would be 30-45 minutes each way, we didn’t hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity because what we were getting in return was an invaluable education. On Day 1, we felt like we were part of the SJES community, and our children never felt like transfer students. In year 2, it feels like we have been here from the start and our only regret was not making this change sooner. What St. Joe's has to offer at the elementary level is not something you find anywhere else with the STREAM lab, musicals (4th & 5th grade) and how each lesson is intertwined to connect and include religion. What is important to us as parents are the resources and tools made available to prepare them for middle school and beyond and the faculty and leadership is simply amazing.

Impressed with the positive atmosphere that permeates the community

"Our son is a current fourth grade student at St. Joe's. Ever since we first walked through the doors in kindergarten, we have been extremely impressed with the school, community and the faculty that bring unparalleled dedication to the students every day. While we have been impressed with the academics throughout our time as a part of the school, we are even more impressed with the positive atmosphere that permeates the community. We are grateful that he can be educated in a school where the faith-based messaging is woven in throughout the day. We have watched our son's knowledge, faith, and compassion for others grow in exponential ways. He has been able to represent his class as a student council member, raise money for charity by participating in the Buzz Off with 30 other boys and take the stage in the Kindergarten Nativity. These are just a few examples of opportunities that have helped shape is growth as an individual. We feel blessed that our son has been able to grow here and look forward to enrolling our daughter next year in the new preschool program.

Our school emanates warmth, care, and love…

"Being a teacher at Saint Joseph Elementary School for seven years has been one of the greatest blessings of my life professionally, emotionally, and spiritually. I have grown so much as an educator and Catholic because of our close-knit and supportive community, who value faith just as much as academic rigor. Our mission statement is modeled by the faculty and students daily through meaningful prayer, differentiated learning, a vibrant musical department, and community outreach. Our students thrive not just as learners, but independent thinkers and faith-filled Catholics. I feel so fortunate to work with a team of educators who teach with their hearts and work tirelessly for their students to succeed. From preschool to fifth grade, our school emanates warmth, care, and love for everyone that enters."

—Julie Scott, Kindergarten teacher

The specials are so much fun…

"I like St. Joe's because every teacher is really nice and forgiving if I make a mistake.  One really fun thing about school at St. Joe's is that we have specials like Art, Gym, STREAM, Library, Spanish and Music.  My favorite is STREAM because sometimes we get to use the iPads and I like coding and designing things on the iPads and computers.  I met a lot of friends very quickly in my first year of St. Joe's in kindergarten because every friend is nice.  Once in awhile we get something called a tag day and we get to wear our choice of clothes and that's fun.  We also have church once a month.  It feels good to be at church and pray.  We go to church every Sunday with my family but I like to go to church at school because I like to go to Mass with my friends.  St. Joe's is a great place to go to school!"

—Jack Brown, SJES Student

We made the right choice…

"We chose Saint Joe’s because it has high standards, a strong community, and a commitment to educating the whole person. Our girls (i) have been challenged and nurtured, (ii) love their teachers and classmates, and (iii) are proud members of the Saint Joe’s community. We made the right choice."

— TJ and Ellen Murphy

We sought an education that incorporated a Catholic identity…

"Saint Joseph Elementary School has been a wonderful choice for our family as we sought an education that incorporated a Catholic identity. In addition, the Saint Joe's community has significantly enriched our family through shared faith, friendship and a commitment to service."

Saint Joe's educates our daughter's heart, mind, and soul…

" As a parent, St Joe’s is a special community which educates our daughter’s heart, mind and soul. We know she is receiving an outstanding education. Equally important is, she feels loved, safe and nurtured. We have never seen her so happy and excited about learning. After her school visit, she told us it was a very warm and welcoming school. She liked the teachers and children and even made a friend. When we let Ally know she could attend St. Joe’s, she literally jumped for joy and told everyone “I am going to St. Joe’s.” Attending St. Joe's was just like she expected. She was embraced by the St. Joe’s community, quickly made friends and absolutely loves school. What more could parents wish for their child. We are very blessed she is at St. Joe’s.

We are always looking to do more and improve…

"Saint Joe's Elementary School is the perfect choice for our family. I have learned over the past 3 years that it provides a loving and supportive environment that offers a balanced emphasis on developing my children's mind, body and spirit. My two daughters love coming to school every single day. I have the utmost respect and support for the Principal at SJES and I am confident that she is creating a safe place where my kid's will be exposed to appropriate and always evolving academic rigor as well as daily learning that promotes positive community involvement along with family values. She has been quoted many times saying "Saint Joes is thriving, however we are always looking to do more and improve." Those words are exactly what we want to hear as parents."

I am inspired each day…

I am one of those lucky people who loves going to work each day because of the students, families, teachers, staff, administration, and clergy at Saint Joseph Elementary School! Driven by our Mission, my colleagues and I come prepared with knowledge, love and expertise. I am truly blessed to work with educators who literally give it their all for our amazing students. Led by our administration, Saint Joe’s blends best educational practices, while honoring tried and true methods. The best part of working at Saint Joe’s, is that by the end of our day my students and I feel academically charged and spiritually nourished. A six or seven-year-old calls it fun! I am inspired each day by the members at school, and it’s an honor to be a part of this school and parish family.

—Rina Federico, First Grade Teacher

We continue to be impressed…

"We are so happy with our decision to transfer our daughter to Saint Joe's. She came as a third grader, and she could not have been more warmly welcomed. By the end of September, it was as though she had always been part of the community. She has made nice friends and loves to go to school every day. We find the staff to be warm, welcoming, open, responsive, and above all -- happy to work where they do. Everyone at Saint Joe's clearly loves children and teaching. We continue to be impressed by the school's dedication to professional development and the idea that there is always something to be learned."

— Robin Horrigan, parent

We love everything about the school…

"What is there not to love about Saint Joseph elementary school! We wanted an education for our children that combines the best in education fundamentals as well as builds a solid moral foundation based on religion and character building.  Saint Joe’s does all of this and more. The faculty and staff encourage the children to be their best, be kind, and be supportive to each other.  The smaller classroom sizes allows the teachers to truly get to  know the students and the students to flourish academically.  I can tell you one of the best parts of Saint Joe’s is the teaching of values, respect, forgiveness and faithfulness.  Saint Joe’s is a school with a great sense of community and our family is so happy that our children are part of it. WE LOVE SAINT JOE’s!"

— Elizabeth Grimes, parent

I feel very lucky to be a part of this learning community…

"This is my fourth year teaching second grade at Saint Joe's and I feel very lucky to be a part of this learning community. I love seeing my former students as they take on new challenges, leadership roles, and stretch their learning. Often, my former students stop by to say hello or to share something that they are learning. Second grade is a really special year. I love to support my students as they prepare for two sacraments. One of my favorite days of the year is First Communion. Second graders work hard to prepare themselves for this day and they always do a great job. Family and friends gather and I love to see students' faces as they take part in the service. There are many wonderful events and traditions at our school!"

— Mrs. Mannion, teacher

They make collaboration easy…

"I have never worked with a better group of teachers and specialists, they are all so positive and student strength focused. As a counselor it helps me that they try every possible intervention and classroom strategy to help their students. I am confident that when these teachers raise a concern they have gone above and beyond what is asked of them to help a child. They make collaboration easy because they all have such amazing personalities."

—Miss McShane, school counselor

He knows he is special and loved…

New to St. Joe's this year, our family already sees the powerful effect of combining forward-thinking, innovative curriculum with the gentler environment that seems to come naturally from a faith-based school. I am excited that my Pre-K student will delve into coding in the STREAMworks lab, that he has already learned to write numbers 1-6 and that he comes home counting beyond 100 and singing a variety of songs and rhymes. I am, however, even MORE delighted that he tells me that he loves his teachers, that he knows he is special and loved, and that his school day "wasn't just good....it was great!"

The engagement and passion of the teachers is exceptional.....

"St. Joseph’s has been a fantastic decision for our family!  The community spirit, engagement and passion of the teachers and staff is exceptional.  Our children are succeeding academically, emotionally, socially and in their religious development.  We know they will be well cared for and taught each day.  As parents of a student with food allergies, the nurses and teachers work with us to create a safe environment.  Our children enter and exit the school with smiles on their faces.  We feel very much at ease heading off to work.  The social activities offered for the students and parents outside of the school day create a real family.  We love St. Joe’s!"
—Jacqueline & Bill Lovett, parents

Steadfast in its core values…

"I feel so grateful to send my children to Saint Joseph each day. The school has continued to innovate, but it is steadfast in its core values of faith, community, and nurturing the young minds we entrust them with each day."
