Reasons to Love Saint Joe's

Lucky to have found high quality, faith-based education
"We chose St. Joseph School because we wanted education for our children that was grounded in faith. We were lucky to find a community of like-minded parents who believe in high-quality, faith- based education. We're thankful for the small class sizes and character development offered to our children at St. Joe's. The committed teachers and accessible leadership team keep us informed and demonstrate a sincere interest in the academic, spiritual and social development of our children."
— Wade & Megan Brown, parents

The teachers were some of my greatest mentors
“My time at St. Joe's were some of the best years of my life. To me, it was a second family. Each day, my teachers helped me through material that I didn't understand and encouraged me to be the best I could be in every aspect of my life. The teachers were some of my greatest mentors. Now being a junior at Connecticut College, as well as a medic in the U.S. Army, I still carry a part of St. Joe's with me every day. St. Joe's not only prepared me for my academic challenges, but it is the basis of my faith and taught me to care about others.”
-PFC Jackie Arrondo, St. Joe's graduate

Didn’t hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity
"When we walked into St Joe's, my husband and I looked at one another and knew instantly this was where we wanted our children to receive their education. Even though our commute would be 30-45 minutes each way, we didn’t hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity because what we were getting in return was an invaluable education. On Day 1, we felt like we were part of the SJS community, and our children never felt like transfer students. In year 2, it feels like we have been here from the start and our only regret was not making this change sooner. What St. Joe's has to offer at the elementary level is not something you find anywhere else with the STREAM lab, musicals (4th & 5th grade) and how each lesson is intertwined to connect and include religion. What is important to us as parents are the resources and tools made available to prepare them for middle school and beyond and the faculty and leadership is simply amazing."
— Elena Spadazzi, parent

Impressed with the positive atmosphere that permeates the community
"Our son is a current fourth grade student at St. Joe's. Ever since we first walked through the doors in kindergarten, we have been extremely impressed with the school, community and the faculty that bring unparalleled dedication to the students every day. While we have been impressed with the academics throughout our time as a part of the school, we are even more impressed with the positive atmosphere that permeates the community. We are grateful that he can be educated in a school where the faith-based messaging is woven in throughout the day. We have watched our son's knowledge, faith, and compassion for others grow in exponential ways. He has been able to represent his class as a student council member, raise money for charity by participating in the Buzz Off with 30 other boys and take the stage in the Kindergarten Nativity. These are just a few examples of opportunities that have helped shape is growth as an individual. We feel blessed that our son has been able to grow here and look forward to enrolling our daughter next year in the new preschool program."

I am inspired each day
"I am one of those lucky people who loves going to work each day because of the students, families, teachers, staff, administration, and clergy at Saint Joseph School! Driven by our mission, my colleagues and I come prepared with knowledge, love and expertise. I am truly blessed to work with educators who literally give it their all for our amazing students. Led by our administration, Saint Joe’s blends the best educational practices, while honoring tried and true methods. The best part of working at Saint Joe’s, is that by the end of our day my students and I feel academically charged and spiritually nourished. A six or seven-year-old calls it fun! I am inspired each day by the members at school, and it’s an honor to be a part of this school and parish family."
— Rina Federico, First Grade Teacher

Teaching at St. Joe's has been a blessing for me
"Teaching at St. Joseph Parish has been a blessing for me. I have not only met some incredible students and families, but I have also had the opportunity to forge lifelong friendships with other staff members. As teachers, we understand that middle school is a time of transition, and we do our best to care not only about providing a strong academic curriculum, but also a moral education rooted in Catholic tradition. I truly wish I had the opportunity to attend St. Joe's as a middle school student!"

We love everything about the school
"What is there not to love about Saint Joseph School! We wanted an education for our children that combines the best in education fundamentals as well as builds a solid moral foundation based on religion and character building.  Saint Joe’s does all of this and more. The faculty and staff encourage the children to be their best, be kind, and be supportive to each other.  The smaller classroom sizes allows the teachers to truly get to know the students and the students to flourish academically.  I can tell you one of the best parts of Saint Joe’s is the teaching of values, respect, forgiveness and faithfulness.  Saint Joe’s is a school with a great sense of community and our family is so happy that our children are part of it. WE LOVE SAINT JOE’S!"
— Elizabeth Grimes, parent

The engagement and passion of the teachers is exceptional
"St. Joseph’s has been a fantastic decision for our family!  The community spirit, engagement and passion of the teachers and staff is exceptional.  Our children are succeeding academically, emotionally, socially and in their religious development.  We know they will be well cared for and taught each day.  As parents of a student with food allergies, the nurses and teachers work with us to create a safe environment.  Our children enter and exit the school with smiles on their faces.  We feel very much at ease heading off to work.  The social activities offered for the students and parents outside of the school day create a real family.  We love St. Joe’s!"
— Jacqueline & Bill Lovett, parents

Steadfast in its core values
"I feel so grateful to send my children to Saint Joseph each day. The school has continued to innovate, but it is steadfast in its core values of faith, community, and nurturing the young minds we entrust them with each day."
